Founded immediately after the war, in 1945, by Mother Teodora Voloșincu (who later became the abbess of the settlement), the monastery was initially dedicated to the memory of national heroes. The necessary funds were obtained almost entirely from public donations.

Decree 410/1959 also had bad effects on the monastery in this case, so that, gradually, the nuns were expelled, and the monastery was completely destroyed.

After the Revolution of 1989, the same Mother Teodora, also through donations, managed to rebuild the monastery, quickly erecting first the church (consecrated in 1991) and a set of modest single-level, quadrilateral-shaped cells that surround the church.

In 2012 it was necessary to demolish this church and, from June of the same year, work began on the reconstruction of a new church on the same site, also made of brick and with an open porch, but much more solid and more beautifully proportioned, in the style Moldavian, with a wide-framed roof and a spire on the nave.

Currently, the monastic community counts 15 living nuns, with Stavrofora Gabriela Turicianu as abbess since 2007. Three of the monks are among those who lived at the first monastery, returning to the community after the Revolution.
