This is the largest natural park in Eastern Europe and one of the most emblematic examples of landscape art in Romania.

The park covers approximately 90 hectares, and the green areas, alleys and forests give it the status of the largest urban green area in Romania. It was opened in 1903, in the presence of King Charles I.

The landscape architect Edouard Redont presented the project of the future Romanescu Park at the Paris International Exhibition in 1900, where he was awarded the Gold Medal.

The park was created in a romantic style, being a combination of architecture and landscape painting.

In 1930, the park was named "N. P. Romanescu Park". Later, new elements were added, such as the entrance portal, the perimeter fence, the extension of the wharf, the modernization of the lighting and the construction of a greenhouse of 1050 square meters. Over time, the park has kept the original components, according to the concept of landscape architect Redont.

In the park as a whole, there are elements such as: the watercourses over 1970 meters long, the alleys almost 27 kilometers long, the monumental entrance, the Romanescu monument, the Bibescu House, the Iron Kiosk, the medieval castle, the lake and the pier, the impressive Suspension Bridge, the waterfalls , the Great Lake, the Zoo, the Hippodrome, the Velodrome, the summer theater, as well as numerous statues and statuary groups, some made by renowned artists, such as Brâncusi or Jalea.

In 1943, a bust of N. Romanescu was placed at the main entrance, as a tribute to the one who contributed significantly to the creation of the park.
