Local tradition tells about the existence of a wooden church in the village of Gura Văii. In its place, the current church was built in 1818. Inside, this interesting monument of old Romanian art is completely painted. The members of the various guilds are represented by specific details of the activities they carried out. Thus, the figure of the merchant is presented with the help of the traditional scales.
A remarkable aspect of these paintings lies in the message conveyed through the artistic creation of the painter. Therefore, the invaders of the Romanian territory suffer in the flames of hell. Their identification is simple, thanks to their specific clothing, as they are officials of the Ottoman administration.
