This unique building preserves in its composition frames and fragments of masonry made in Gothic style, which come from the old Dominican Convent dedicated to the Holy Cross, mentioned in documents in Bistrița since the 13th century.

The church that once belonged to this convent was an imposing Gothic building, similar in size to the current Evangelical Church, but, left in ruins, was demolished during the 18th century. Currently, some of the buildings that once belonged to the convent are used as a nursing home for the elderly.
