The Obrejii de Căpâlna dam is made of reinforced concrete and has the shape of an arch. At the base, its thickness is 10.5 meters, and at the crown 4 meters, having a height of 42 meters and a length of 143 meters. The formed lake, called Nedeiu or Obrejii de Căpâlna, has a length of about 3.2 kilometers.
It accumulates a water volume of 3.5 million cubic meters, coming from the Șugag Hydropower Plant and the tributaries Dobra, Nedeiu, Grosești and Mărtinie. The water from the lake acts on the two turbines of the Săsciori Hydroelectric Plant, each with a capacity of 21 MW, which have been operating at maximum capacity since 1987. The dam is managed by Hidroelectrica.
