It is the first marked tourist route from Băile Tușnad. The route starts from the center of the resort, passes Mikes and Apor springs and reaches the edge of the forest. Here the paved street ends, and the route continues on a well-defined path.
After about 10 minutes of walking, the paths marked with a red cross and a red dot split. The first route, marked with a red cross, leads to the Tinovul Mohoș Natura 2000 Site - Lacul Sfânta Ana, while the second, marked with a red dot, turns left and continues on the slope of Mount Surdoc on a comfortable hiking trail.
After another 15-20 minutes of leisurely walking, at an altitude of 762 m, you reach the Apor Bastion. After the time spent at the belvedere point, there are two options for the way back: either you can return to the previously described route, or you can continue in the other direction towards the Ludmilla panorama. A marked path goes down the small valley that reaches the resort right next to the Ciucaș Hotel.
The Apor Bastion, thanks to Count Apor Károly, was built in 1883 in the lower part of the Surduc peak. This bastion is a vantage point that was never used as a strategic objective, contrary to some erroneous descriptions. From inside the bastion you can admire a view of the town of Băile Tușnad, the Tușnad gorge, the Olt river and the Piatra Şoimilor Nature Reserve.
