The SICULICIDIUM monument in Siculeni is recognized as a historical monument according to the Register of Monuments of Harghita County (1992).
The construction of the monument, based on the plan created by the architect Tamás József from Miercurea-Ciuc, was inaugurated on October 8, 1905. The bird located on the central pillar of the monument is the work of the renowned sculptor Köllő Miklós, originally from Ciumani, with a wingspan of 2 .6 meters.
The monument pays tribute to the massacre of January 7, 1764, when Austrian imperial troops killed more than 200 Szekler martyrs.
In 1891, at the initiative of Orbán Gyula, a committee was created that collected the necessary funds for construction. The name SICULICIDIUM is actually a chronosticon, its letters converted into Latin numbers indicating the year of the massacre - 1764. The name in Latin means "killing the Sekku" or "extermination of the Sekku".
The commemorative plaque includes a brief description of the events, the date of consecration (1899) and a poem honoring the act of resistance of the Szeklers against tyranny, who died for the rights and liberties of the Szeklers, setting an example for future generations.
