The Post Office building, inaugurated before the other constructions in the city, is considered the oldest. In 1931, the sculptor Ion Jalea unveiled a bronze memorial plaque, recalling that this building served as the main border post until 1859, providing functions such as passport control, lodging rooms and space for changing post horses.
It functioned as the "Cimbru" Hotel, then from 1856 - 1862, the "Old Post Office" later, establishing its destination as the Museum of the Union.
