The Vulpe Church is located on Sărăriei Street in Iași and was built in 1760, on the site of an old wooden church dating from 1630.
The original wooden construction was completed in 1632 by the furriers' guild. According to a charter issued during the reign of Petru Movilă, it is said that a hunter, after chasing a fox for a long time, promised to build a church in the place where he managed to catch it. It is assumed that he was the initiator of the construction of the place of worship, being supported by the furriers' guild.
The wooden church was consumed by flames in 1832, following a devastating fire that engulfed the city of Iași. It was later rebuilt by Teodor Burada. Approximately ten years later, the church was destroyed again by fire, and was later restored by the town clerk Antonie Cobălcescu. After the consecration of the new building, a second patron saint was added, bearing the name of the founder. Thus, the church bears the patron saints of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and Saint Anthony the Great.
