"Márton Áron" National College in Miercurea Ciuc, originally a Roman Catholic high school, is a pre-university education institution, whose building was built between 1909-1911 and is classified as a historical monument.
The building has three wings, with the central wing, the main wing, being prominent, while the side wings are set back. The main wing includes a central gable with a mansard roof between two towers, and the ends are accentuated by triangular gables.
The side wings are similar in design to the main wing and are finished with a bulky tower each attached to the corner escutcheon. The main entrance is made through the central result of the main wing, and the secondary entrances are accentuated by triangular pediments in the side wings.
The decoration of the main facade combines neo-Romanesque, neo-Gothic, neo-Baroque and Art Nouveau ornamental elements. The huge windows, finished semicircularly and decorated with rosettes, and the ornamentation of the main portal are striking, reminiscent of medieval churches.
The main entrance has a Romanesque character, being supported by three pairs of massive stone colonnades, decorated with geometric elements and stylized leaves, volutes and grapes. The stucco of the entrance arch is decorated with beads and shells, having an Art Nouveau wavy border.
The colonnades of the main entrance are also found on the main facade, at the last level of the towers and on the triangular pediments, with capitals decorated with stylized plant elements and sometimes with human masks.
