In the churchyard is the Heroes' Mausoleum, a historical monument, forming an ensemble together with the Ascension Church.
The complex of the two monuments was built between 1926-1939 on the initiative of the Cult of Heroes Society, the branch of Vlaşca county.
In the mausoleum are buried in crypts:
350 identified Romanian soldiers who fell in the battles fought in the county in the fall of 1916;
69 German soldiers, died in the Giurgiu Military Hospital in the period 1916-1918.
Apart from them, an ossuary preserves the remains of over 4,000 Romanian soldiers exhumed in the county and in Bulgaria, to which are added those of a Bulgarian officer (died in 1913) and three soldiers from the French colonial troops (died in 1918)
