The Hygeia Spring and the Hercules II Spring originate from the Roman period and were restored by the Austrian authorities in the 18th century, at the same time as the Roman Baths were renovated.

The places where the two springs emerged are protected by a Roman aedicule, consisting of four Doric columns supporting a simple entablature decorated with a triangular pediment. The pediment is inscribed with the text "AD AQUAS HERCVLI SACRAS", a formula that is also found on a stone dated 153 AD.

Today, the aedicule is well preserved, but the springs it once protected are dry.
