The monastery is a place of pilgrimage for believers in the area. It is located in a picturesque area, at the foot of the Lotru Mountains.
The Monastery of the Holy Martyrs Brâncoveni in Obârsia Lotrului is a monastery of monks located in Vâlcea County, at an altitude of approximately 1400 meters. It was built in the Maramure style, specific to the Borșa area, the birthplace of the founder Vasile Timiş.
The foundation stone was laid in 2012, and the construction was completed in 2015. The monastery has two patrons: the Holy Martyrs Brâncoveni and the Holy Great Martyr Mina. The monastic complex includes the large wooden church, a two-level wall monastery and a parish house.
The wooden church is 17 meters long and is in the shape of a Byzantine cross. The porch is carved in oak wood. The community of the monastery consists of five living, whose abbot is the hieromonk Serafim Sângeorzan.
