From the Borșa tourist complex, on an extremely impressive route, you can reach the Prislop Pass (1418 m) and the Prislop inn.
The Prislop "Change of Face" monastery is located at 1,413 meters at the top of the Prislop Pass, on the border between Maramureș and Bucovina. Established in 1999, it also houses a monument dedicated to the heroes of the First World War. The monastery is a place with a turbulent history, reviving above the war trenches of the 20th century. Next to the church is a military cemetery. Currently, the Monastery responds to the spiritual needs of the community, having 10 inhabitants who pray in the name of the heroes and the faith. Religious events, such as bringing the Holy Relics, have become traditions, and the winter church was consecrated in 2010.
Hundreds of years ago, herds of bison grazed freely here, and nowadays we can meet deer, deer and sometimes even bears.
At this point, every year, in the middle of August, the Hora de la Prislop takes place, an inter-county folk festival that recalls the traditional ties between the communities of Moldova, Maramureș and Transylvania.
