The hermitage of Saint Basil the Great is dependent on the Baia Borșa Monastery and has a wooden church in the Maramuresian style and a body of cells. It is an ideal place for "nourishing the soul". From Borșa (Maramureș county), you walk 6 km to Baia Borșa and then another 10 km on a forest road to reach the hermitage.

The hermitage is located "at păcuri", 9 km from Baia Borșa, on a partially asphalted forest road, accessible especially in summer. Services are held daily and accommodation is limited, but the place is particularly beautiful. In the summer of 2005, a beautiful wooden church was built in the Maramuresian style and a summer altar with a bell tower. The hermitage is located in a wonderful landscape, on a natural plateau, in the middle of a secular fir and beech forest, benefiting from clean air and sulphurous water springs with miraculous and healing properties.

The hermitage includes the wooden church, the summer altar with bell tower, the monastic house with a winter chapel upstairs, a building with a large woodshed and heating plant on the ground floor, a terrace and guest room on the first floor, two fish ponds and outbuildings for animals. The community of the hermitage consists of Monk Vitalie and Bro. Theodore.

It is recommended to visit the hermitage as a day trip for those who spend their holidays in Borșa.
