Valea Țesna is a protected area of ​​national interest, located in Mehedinți county, in Balta commune. It is classified as a geological, floristic, faunal and landscape nature reserve, according to IUCN category IV. The area is located in the Mehedinți Mountains, on the border with Caraş-Severin county, and is crossed by the Tăsna stream, a tributary of the Cerna river.

The reservation was declared a protected area by Law No. 5 of March 6, 2000 and covers an area of ​​160 hectares. It is characterized by gorges dug in Jurassic limestones, rocky cliffs, grottoes, caves, sinkholes, lapiazes and valleys, having a flora and fauna specific to the Mehedinti Mountains. The protected floristic species Unghia ciutei (Asplenium ceterach) is also found in the area.

The protected area is part of the Domogled - Valea Cernei National Park, borders to the east the Pereții calcarosi reserve from Izvoarele Coșuștei and overlaps the Natura 2000 site - Domogled - Valea Cernei.
