Bâlii Valley is a botanical natural reserve located in southern Transylvania, Sibiu County, in the Făgăraș Mountains, on the territory of the Cârtisoara commune and crossed by the national road DN7C - Transfăgărășan. With an area of 180 hectares, it was declared a protected area by Law No. 5 of March 6, 2000 and is part of both the Făgăraş Mountains site of community importance and the Făgăraș Piedmont special avifaunistic protection area.
The reserve includes Bâlea Lake, a glacial lake, and is home to a variety of protected alpine and sub-alpine plants, such as queen-flower, mountain peony and mountain romaine. These species are protected at European level by Directive 92/43/EC on the conservation of natural habitats and species of wild fauna and flora.
