The oaks forest of Breite represent one of the most important oak and sessile oak reserves in Romania, which covers an area of 120 hectares. The first documentary mention dates from 1583 in documents that belonged to the chancellery of Prince Stefan Bathory.
The reservation can be visited relatively easily, following the county road 14 to the town of Danes, about 4 km and then another 2 km of forest road through the forest. This reservation is located on a plateau arranged on a slope from north to south, with an altitude between 504 and 530 m, surrounded by oak specimens, in number of over 600, of which over 450 trees can be considered as centuries-old based on biometric characters.
This sunny place was once the perfect setting for the Skopationfest, organized by the evangelical church in Sighisoara during Pentecost, an organization banned during communism. Students, teachers, craftsmen of the area participate in this celebration. It is good news that the people of Sighisoara resumed the tradition of organizing this festival a few years ago.
