Ostrovu Lung - Gostinu is a protected area, located in the southwestern part of Muntenia, in Giurgiu county.

It is located in the central-southern extremity of the county, on the territory of the communes of Gostinu, Oinacu and Prundu, near the county road DJ507, which connects the municipality of Giurgiu with the village of Gostinu.

The area was declared a Special Avifaunistic Protection Area in 2007 by a government decision and covers an area of 2,489 hectares.

The protected area is located in an area of the Danube meadow, providing conditions for the feeding, nesting and living of many species of migratory and sedentary birds, some rare and protected by law.

The reason for the designation of the site is the presence of several species of migratory and passage birds included in the 2009 European Council Directive on the conservation of wild birds.

Among the protected birds reported here are: the mountain whistler, the lark, the teal, the gray heron, the woodpecker, the ruddy duck, the red-breasted goose, the goshawk, the curly pelican, the great cormorant, the shoveler, and many more, including migratory and resident species.
