The Molhașurile Căpățănei nature reserve is located in the heart of Mount Mare, on the administrative territory of Bistra commune, Alba county, in the northeastern part of the village of Feleteni.
The reserve was declared a protected area in 2000, being included in the Natura 2000 site. It covers an area of 5 ha and houses three types of habitats of community interest, thus protecting several fauna and flora species characteristic of the Western Carpathians.
Molhașurile Căpățânei is made up of four high-altitude marshes and lakes, being created with the aim of conserving some species of flora and fauna on the verge of extinction within the main types of habitat found here: active peatlands, peatlands with forest vegetation and acidophilic forests in the region mountain.
Access to the reservation is on DN 75, which connects the town of Câmpeni with Bistra. The route to Molhașurile Căpățănei can be traveled with the help of off-road vehicles, from the center of the Bistra commune the connection is provided by a forest road, which can be driven up for about half an hour, and the rest of the route will be taken on foot.
