The Slatina Reservoir was built on the lower Olt River, in the southern part of the Slatina municipality, and was completed in 1980. It powers the turbines of the Slatina hydroelectric power plant, which has an installed capacity of 26 MW and became operational in 1981.
The lake has an area of 540.70 hectares and a total volume of 19.24 million cubic meters. In addition to producing electricity, its waters are used to supply water to the Slatina municipality, to irrigate agricultural land in the area, and to regulate the flow of the Olt River.
