In the commune of Basarabi there is also the Fântânița Nature Reserve, where on an area of 66 hectares you can find rare or characteristic flora species of Dobrogea, such as the Dobrogean flax (Linum Borzaeanum), the wild hyacinth (Hyacinthus lencophaeus), the spring rush (Adonis vernalia) , steppe peony (Paeonia tenuifolia), Dobrogean allium (Euphorbia dobrogensis) and a species of dwarf almond (Amygdalus nana).
In May, on Fântânița hill, the meadows are beautified by numerous flowering dwarf irises (Iris pumilla). Just as it happens in the case of Traian's Wave, at Murfatlar, approximately 3 kilometers south of the commune, you can see the ruins of the earthen wave (limes).
