Dealul lui Dumnezeu is a Site of Community Importance (SCI) created to protect biodiversity and maintain in a good state of conservation the spontaneous flora, wild fauna and natural habitats of community interest in the protected area. This site is located in Iași County, on the administrative territories of the communes of Letcani, Movileni, Rediu and Românești.
The natural area is located in the central-eastern part of Iași County, in the eastern part of the village of Avântu, near the communal road DC11, which connects the locality of Românești and the village of Ursoaia.
This area was declared a Site of Community Importance by Order of the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development no. 1964 of 13 December 2007, which establishes the regime of protected natural areas as part of the European ecological network Natura 2000 in Romania. The surface of the site covers 707.6 hectares.
The protected area is a depression in the continental biogeographic region, located in the south of the Moldavian Hills. It includes steppe meadows, swamps, peat bogs, agricultural lands and scrubland and is home to a species of reptile endemic to Romania, Vipera ursinii ssp. moldavica, known as the steppe viper, which is included in the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List.
The presence of an insect protected at European level according to EC Directive 92/43/EC of 21 May 1992, called the steppe scythe (Saga pedo), has also been reported in the same area of the site. This species is considered vulnerable and is also found on the IUCN Red List.
