Denistepe, known in Turkish as "Sea Hill" (where "deniz" means sea and "tepe" means hill), is an isolated hilly massif located in northern Dobrogea. It is located in the southern part of the Tulcea Hills, of which it is a part, and represents their highest altitude, reaching 270 meters.
The massif is formed by sandstones dating back to the Jurassic period.
A local legend says that on the top of the rock there was once an iron ring to which the ship of the Argonauts was tied on their journey to Colchis, in search of the Golden Fleece.
