The slopes of the Canaraua Fetii valley are delimited by steep calcareous cliffs that in places form a canyon profile with vertical walls furrowed by numerous fissures and caves. In some places the erosion was so intense that it isolated tall blocks resembling fortress towers.
The fauna and flora of these walls are special and include a large number of rare species for Romania. These slopes are the home but also the resting place for several species of birds, among the easiest to observe are the shrews, namely the common shrew that nests in forests with tall trees and stays in this territory even in winter, but also the field eagle.
The area is a favorable environment where the Dobrogenian land turtles develop their habitat, which is one of the elements that helped to declare this area as a protected one.
Of course, big or small mammals cannot be missing here, they complete the landscape. Our story can be interrupted by a wild boar that runs away scared in search of food. Also these well-versed abound in snail shell fossils you just have to insist to get to them.
