In 1875 the first two houses were already built in the center of the town: the house of General Ion Florescu (known as the Ştirbei Palace) and the house of Prince Dimitrie Ghica, located near the new Sinaia hotel, today the site of the Casino. The yard of this house will be donated to the town by Prince Ghica and will become the central park of Sinaia resort.

The Sinaia Casino is located in Dimitrie Ghica Park and was built at the initiative of King Carol I of Romania between 1912-1913. Designed according to the plans of architect Petre Antonescu, the Casino was raised on the former location of Ghica Villa, one of the first in the town.

The main shareholder of the casino was Baron of Marçay, also shareholder in the Monte Carlo Casino. The opening was celebrated with fireworks and a piano recital by George Enescu and it became a major attraction between the World Wars.

On the 18th of December 1870 The Board of Civil Hospitals, by the boards: Dimitrie Ghica, Grigore Cantacuzino and doctor Carol Davila gives a notice inviting interested people to buy land in area of 2500 square meters for building "health houses" in the center of Sinaia.
