Claudia, a member of the Rhedey family, founders of the church and castle, married in 1836 a Duke of Wurtenberg. Through this union, a descendant of the family, Maria, becomes Queen of England by marrying George V and, in 1935, donates the sum of 126,000 RON for the restoration works of the church in Sângeorgiu de Pădure.
The castle was built in 1809 in neoclassical style.
