cent. XIV, turn cent. XVIII, altered cent. XX
The church in this area is one of the important historical buildings in Mureș County. The building was built in the 19th century in the Gothic style, and at one point, its facades were completely covered with paintings as in Bucovina monasteries. Today, a fragment of the old fresco can still be seen.
There are two commemorative plaques, one of them in English, commemorating Claudia, member of the Rhedey family, founders of the church and nearby castle, married in 1836 to a Duke of Wurtenberg. Through this union, a descendant of the family, Maria, becomes Queen of England by marrying George V and, in 1935, donates the sum of 126,000 RON for the restoration works of the church in Sângeorgiu de Pădure.
