St. George's Church was built of raw stone and woven by local craftsmen and builders brought from Transylvania. Originally intended for believers of the Roman Catholic rite, it underwent modifications and was adapted for the Greco-Oriental cult in the 17th century, thus becoming the home of the potters' guild.
Gothic style elements are evident both in the chancel window and in the door connecting the pronaos and the nave. "The church door represents a beautiful and small specimen of Gothic art in the old Wallachia".
