The church in the Vișoi neighborhood, dedicated to Saint George and the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, was built in 1774 and completed on August 20. The construction was carried out thanks to the efforts and financial support of Hierodeacon Gheorghe and his wife, Ilinca, on land offered by the priest Nicolae from the town. At that time, the country was ruled by Voivode Alexandru Ipsilanti. The church has the shape of a cross, is equipped with two towers and a small extension to the west. It was repainted in 1895. All this information was recorded by the priest Ioan Răuțescu in his work entitled "Câmpulung-Muscel. Historical Monograph", published 81 years ago.
Due to its age and its special appearance, carefully preserved over more than 25 years by its servants, the Vișoi church occupies an important place in this monograph, in the chapter dedicated to the places of worship in Câmpulung, existing in 1943, but also to those that have since disappeared.
Around 1700, there was a sluice and a pasture in that place. Around 1750, in the context of religious persecutions against the Orthodox in Transylvania, the first immigrants settled in Câmpulung, on the territory of the current parish. Since there was no church in the area, Hierodeacon Gheorghe, together with his wife Ilinca and their sons – Iorgu Constantin, Gheorghe and Ioan – began, after 1760, to build a church made of stone and brick, in the shape of a cross, once the Transylvanian community had formed. The land on which the church was built was donated by Nicolae Popp. The construction closely resembles the church in Voinești, both in architecture and painting. The place of worship in Vișoi was completed and consecrated during the reign of Ioan Alexandru Ipsilanti, on August 20, 1774.
