It is located in the northwest of the city of Filiași, very close to the cemetery. There are also tourist signs directing tourists to this monument. The monument was erected between 1865 and 1868 by Dimitrie Filișanu, a renowned politician and philanthropist of the time, known as the "Sistine Chapel of Oltenia". The historical complex includes the mausoleum, being surrounded by a wall.
The work of a great Italian architect, the mausoleum was designed based on a French model. Inside are three large walnut sarcophagi, beautifully decorated with carvings. The bones of the Filișanu family are found in the crypts under the sarcophagi, they are only ornamental. One of the sarcophagi bears the coat of arms of the Filișanu family.
The mausoleum is of interest because it evokes the figure of Dimitrie Filișanu, a great political leader, devotedly involved in the Revolution of 1848 and the Union of the Principalities of 1859.
