The church was built in 1835, on the site of an older wooden church, dating from 1712. It is a representative building for the Orthodox architectural style specific to the first half of the 19th century. Its construction was possible with the support of merchants from Brașov.
The interior painting is particularly valuable, especially that made on the wooden vaults. The church in Bixad, dating from 1835, is located in the northeastern part of the village. It has a rectangular plan and is compartmentalized according to Orthodox tradition, with a narthex, nave and altar. The construction is made of stone and brick, and the roof is made of tiles.
