The Unitarian fortress-church of Aita Mare is a construction surrounded by fortified walls, erected for defense, which reach a height of five meters and are equipped with two bastions located in opposite corners. The fortification is located at the highest point of the village, known as the "Cuibul Corbului". According to historical documents, the protective walls that have survived to this day were built in the second half of the 16th century or at the beginning of the 17th century.
Inside this fortress is the church built in the 14th century, in the late Gothic style. Among its most valuable elements, the pulpit, which has the shape of a chalice and is made up of four carved stone boxes, as well as the balustrade, also made of stone, dating from 1710. The pulpit is considered the sixth oldest in all of Transylvania.
Another notable aspect of the church is the interior boxes decorated with paintings depicting brightly colored ornaments, characteristic of the ethnographic area of which the locality is part.
