Built in 1756, the Cernavodă Mosque is located on Crișan Street, at number 4. This mosque represents one of the most important architectural works built during the reign of Sultan Osman III (1754-1757). Due to its special features and beauty, the mosque was also mentioned in the memoirs of the famous Ottoman traveler Evliya Celebi.

At the entrance to the mosque there is a ritual fountain, in the form of a limestone cube, which seems to invite visitors to step inside the building. The interior ceiling is not flat, as is usually found in other places of worship, but is raised in its center, having the shape of a pyramid truncated. The most distinctive element, which reflects the style of Ottoman constructions in Dobrogea, is the minaret of the mosque, considered a unique specimen in the entire Ottoman Empire.

The balcony for the muezzin was designed in an original shape by the architects, being rounded like a swallow's nest. The entire construction is made of stone, and the roof is covered with tiles. On one of the sides of the building there is a historical plaque, dating from 1886, which mentions the first major restoration of the mosque, carried out in the context of the infrastructure works that connected Dobrogea to Romania, in particular by building the railway bridge over the Danube.
