The great mosque, built in 1910 in the Moorish style, is an exact replica of the mosque in the city of Koniah in Anatolia (Turkey), representing an architectural monument. The minaret, 50 meters high, has a balcony accessible by a staircase containing 144 steps. From this balcony you can admire a splendid panorama of the city and the sea. The columns, stairs and the 12 fountains for the washing ritual (muslikurs) in the entrance courtyard are carved from Albești-Paleologu limestone. The entrance to the mosque is flanked by an imposing gate, having massive slabs of black marble.
Inside, the arabesques and paintings are perfectly harmonized in a color palette that includes light ocher or cobalt blue, framed by shades of red and green. Along the walls, a wide belt of yellow and indigo colored tiles extends.
