The monument to the Saxon heroes was erected between 1912 and 1913, in honor of the 39 young men from Brasov who died in the battle that took place here in 1612.
The battle took place on October 16, 1612 between the defenders of the fortress, among whom were the Juda of Brașov, Michael Weiss, and 39 students of the Honterus gymnasium, all of whom were victims of the conflict, and the Szekler troops led by Gabriel Bathory.
