The Padiș karst plateau is a protected area of national interest, included in the IV category of the IUCN (floristic and landscape nature reserve), located in the northwest of Transylvania, in Bihor county.

This natural area is located in the southeastern part of Bihor County, in the northern part of the Bihor Mountains, which are part of the Apuseni Mountains, which belong to the Western Carpathian chain, on the administrative territory of the Pietroasa commune and is crossed by the county road DJ763.

The nature reserve, with an area of 39 hectares, was declared a protected area by Law No. 5 of March 6, 2000, regarding the approval of the National Territorial Development Plan, section III - protected areas, published in the Official Gazette of Romania No. 152 of April 12, 2000 and is part of the avifaunistic special protection area - Apuseni Mountains - Vlădeasa.

The Padiș karst plateau is an important component of the Padiș tourist area, having an outstanding landscape and tourist value in the Apuseni region, but also a floristic value due to the presence of rare species of nitrophilous plants, such as mountain bulbs (Trolius europaeus), a species protected at European level according to Directive 92/43/EC of 21 May 1992 (concerning the conservation of natural habitats and species of wild fauna and flora).
